THE SIMPLY CO. LAUNDRY DETERGENT | PRODUCT REVIEW



As much as I liked the idea of using Dr. Bronner's castile soap for everything, we wrote about it here, I developed some kind of a skin sensitivity to it! After a shower, my skin was very itchy and clean clothes even made me itch.

 So, while perusing Pinterest for homemade detergent recipes, I came across a pin from the Trash is for Tossers blogger, Lauren Singer. On top of living a zero-waste lifestyle, which I so admire, she has created her own organic, all natural laundry detergent. At first I was unsure whether a few simple ingredients could be so effective without chemicals, but I was intrigued. That night I asked JP what he thought of the product and he told me to go ahead and buy a container. The detergent was on a three week back order so it was well over a month later before we actually received the product, but SO WORTH THE WAIT! Oh my goodness you guys. This stuff smells so amazing and works SO well!

 Introducing our most favorite organic and natural laundry powder detergent from The Simply Co. It literally has three ingredients: baking soda, washing soda, and organic vegan castile soap. We have purchased the lavender scent, so ours has the added essential oil, but you can buy it unscented.

If I could figure out the amounts per ingredient and get the right castile soap, I'd consider making it myself! But, not only do I not have the time, I don't have the energy or space for storing extra ingredients. It is a little expensive, but you can get up to 60 loads in the 32oz container. For me, it is well worth paying a little extra to know that the detergent is environmentally friendly and nontoxic (also I think there is a discount if you subscribe to a monthly order). Lauren says to try 1-2 tablespoons per load, but I don't think I've ever used two for a load as one seems to work just fine!

We've been using this laundry detergent for over six months now and we'll never go back to store brand soap. We can't say enough good things about this product. DRESSER TURNED TV STAND MAKEOVER

DIY HOMEMADE MOD PODGE

We all know how expensive Mod Podge is at the craft store, right?  And since there are so many projects which use it, I thought I could find a homemade version  online .  Love  pinterest !  This is seriously the easiest DIY project I have ever done. Supplies: A Jar (I rescued an empty Tostitos Creamy Spinach Dip Jar YUMMM which was on its way out to be recycled) Elmer's White Glue (I used two 4 fl oz bottles) Water Before I made the Mod Podge, I washed out the jar and spray painted the lid silver.  I also took off the label from the jar and did my best to get rid of all of the adhesive (first tried a paper towel and rubbing alcohol, but it didn't work and then I tried olive oil and it worked like a charm). Instructions: Empty glue into jar Fill the empty glue bottle with water and pour into the new jar with the glue  (Ideally, you want 50% glue and 50% water) Shake, Shake, SHAKE the jar That's it!  You have made homemade mod pod

TWO YEARS | remembering our miscarriage
